Why the Gays Should Care: Charli XCX and Icona Pop

I’ve decided to combine these two acts in this series since they collaborated on Icona Pop’s “I Love It.” The gays should care because both are releasing dance music that’s club friendly but that you can actually listen to when you’re not at the bar. In fact, I’d much rather hear these songs at the gay bar instead of warmed over David Guetta tracks. Also, did I mention they’re all like really pretty?
I caught Icona Pop a few months ago when they opened for Marina and the Diamonds. Their show was a huge gay dance party, even outshining the main act, and they were so much fun that I wanted to spend the rest of the night tagging along with them. Last night, both artists played the Belmont and teamed up for their first live performance of “I Love It” together. Check out the video I shot.
